A visual journey about the Human-Nature Connection

Human-Nature Connection

Humans are moving further away from the natural world. There has been an explosion in the urban population, especially in the last century. The associated barriers in cities and excessive demands and influences separate us in a sense that we are losing regular contact and experience with the natural world. This project showcases a visual journey that encourages, motivates, and inspires people living in cities to reconnect with their natural surroundings.

Liberate is the first section in the book, which is about humans living in cities. It visualizes the influences, distractions, and constant demands that weigh on us. The end of this section invites us to question our busy lifestyle. We shall center and focus our consciousness.

Focus is the second part of the book. It is about awakening, paying attention, and searching for the unknown in the natural world. It gives us playful instruction and inspiration on how to regain a connection with nature. This part prepares us for the third section about experiencing the natural world individually.

Experience is the last section of the book, all about embracing and encouraging personal routines and practices within the natural world. It visualizes different approaches on how to be in regular touch and strengthen the relationship with nature.

Transformations III Research Conference

In all its depth, this project was presented to an international audience on the 7th of July 2021. The Conference is called ‘Transformations’ and is hosted by Middlesex University. I was honored to be chosen to share my research and work for my Final Major Project ‘Human-Nature Connection’ within an academic event. The presentation starts at 1m48s.
